Friday, 3rd January 2020 the New Bright Police and Metro received information that a man living on Jawa Street had been seen distributing home brewed alcohol.
The officers had great difficulty entering the property safely as the house was well secured, the officers later spotted a man leaving the house and at this point he was stopped and questioned.
After stopping the man they were able to gain access to the property and discovered the equipment used to make the home brew alcohol.
In total 10,000 litres were seized from the property alongside a large quantity of bottles, arising the suspicion further that the man was making the alcohol to distribute.
The 68-year old owner was found to be breaking the Section 19 of the Liquor Act – trading without a valid liquor licence, he was later given a R2000 fine.
