NORTH WEST – The Hawks’ team successfully arrested two suspects that attempted to infiltrate and carry out a robbery at a gold mine, murdering victims in the process. Two security guards aged 31 and 34 have been arrested for their involvement.
The incident has been reported to have occurred on December, 20th 2019. The suspects rushed the gold mine and in the process held the security guards as hostages and later taking the company vehicle to gain further access.
When the suspects arrived at the plant it’s alleged that they shot and killed a stationed security guard. Once they were inside they took more employees hostage.
With the threat of security out of the way they made attempts to use explosives to gain entry to the smelting house, this was not successful which lead them to flee the scene.
Both suspects are facing murder, hijacking and attempted robbery charges and have attended Atamelang Magistrate’s Court today.
