A graduation ceremony was due to commence on Wednesday 31st December 2019 when a fellow student turned to violence and murdered one of his peers. The victim was aged 26 and the accused 23 years old.

The incident occurred at Mzamo Section just outside Queenstown. It’s been said that the students had some confrontation based on the seating arrangements. It was reported that one of them disagreed with the seating plan as one believed that it was arranged by seniority.

The graduation house was full of people so they both decided to leave during the dispute, the 26-year-old man left the building and the accused chose to lunge a knife through his upper body.

The attack fatally wounded the man and he is now deceased.

The suspect is due to attend Ezibeleni Magistrated Court, 02 January 2020 and has been given a murder charge.

As the incident is sensitive in nature and investigations are still under way the SAPS have chose to withheld the identity of the victim.
