Police are searching for a four-year-old boy who went missing near the Thabapatswa settlement at Tweespruit in the Eastern Free State. This follows after he apparently went to the field with a teenage boy and did not return.
Brig. Police spokesman Motantsi Makhele says Mpho Albert March, 4, went to the field with a 15-year-old boy to fetch cattle.
According to the teenage boy, Mpho looked tired. The teenage boy told Mpho to wait for him while fetching the other cattle that had grazed some distance from the rest of the herd.
Makhele said when the teenage boy returned to the place where he left Mpho, he was left out. The area is also densely forested.
Mpho’s mother, Anastatia March, went to look for Mpho herself. When she couldn’t find him, she informed the police of his disappearance.
Police are still searching for Mpho. They sent dogs into the field to cut his track.
Makhele is asking anyone with more information on where Mpho might be, to call the police crime number on 08600 10111 or visit their nearest police station.
