Four children between the ages of 3 and 11 have died on Sunday afternoon after consuming a ‘toxic substance’ at a waste site located in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth.
Motherwell Health Centre contacted the Police services when four suspicious deaths occurred due to food poisoning.
It’s alleged that the children were playing near the waste site and stumbled across some food between the rubble which they ingested.
“The 3-year-old boy passed away on arrival at the health centre, while his 10-year-old sister and another pair of siblings, a 5-year-old boy and his sister (11) all died while receiving treatment at the health centre.” said Beetge
A 7 year-old also became ill after ingesting the food and was to be found having the symptoms, however, it’s been reported that he survived and is now recovering.
