Springbok rugby player Danie Gerber has tested positive for Covid-19.
According to HeraldLIVE Gerber’s daughter says he started complaining about a sore body on Tuesday morning and on Wednesday he started feeling feverish.
“I am shocked. I cannot believe it. I am just worried about my family now. They are now awaiting results.”
Gerber said he had been on about six different aircraft over the past two weeks including flights between Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town.
“I have no clue where I could have gotten it. I have been playing golf in several places and travelling all over (SA). I have been on six aircraft and in contact with a lot of people.
“Whoever I have been in contact with, please check for symptoms and get yourself tested,” he said.HeraldLIVE
The family received the call on Friday around noon that Elanie and her mother, Elsabe, were also tested for the virus.
“My father is not critical or in hospital. He wants to send a positive message and wants everyone to know they have to stay in their home and wash their hands and heed what is being asked of us now. It can happen to anyone. “
She says her father is already doing better, but they are still very concerned because he had a triple heart bypass a few years ago.
It is unknown where he could have contracted the virus, but according to Elanie he recently flew inland.
