An unknown person on Friday threatened to “f * ck” an employee of the Fair Trade Independent Tobacco Association (Fita).
The person was furious because there is no verdict yet in Fita’s urgent court application against the current ban on tobacco trafficking.
According to Fita chairman Sinenhlanhla Mnguni, the person called from an unknown number on Friday and had words with the office administrator
She was threatened and now she is afraid to return to work.
A coward contacted our office telephonically via a private number & threatened to “come to the office and fuck up” our office administrator “due to the delay in the handing down of the #CigaretteBan judgment”, which we are following up on but is completely out of our hands.

After the call, Fita immediately sought to determine who the person was, and already informed their legal team about it.
“After considering all the facts properly, we will decide what we will do. At this stage, we are strongly considering filing a complaint with the police, ”says Mnguni.
Fita is also keen to get the verdict, and follows it up regularly, he says.
“But people need to understand that it’s not in our hands, but in court. The court cannot be prescribed, ”says Mnguni.
He is a lawyer and understands all too well that a ruling, especially in the Supreme Court, can sometimes be a lengthy process.
