According to her husband, Fanie, Marlene Ferreira was alone in their farm office at about 20:30 on Friday night, about four meters from the farmhouse. The office door was locked.
“It is the end of the month and she would like to finish her paperwork. I’ve been on the farm elsewhere. She saw two men peeking through the window.
“One man started shooting at her, and the other threw a stone through the window and climbed through. He hit her with a screwdriver and stabbed her.
“She was able to get hold of her firearm and shot at him. He was shot four times. The other man also shot at Marlene from outside the window. Then she switched off the lights and shot at him.
“He ran away, and she called me. I also called the police and security services.
“Marlene is stable but suffers from shock. She got stitches for the stab wound, and also had bruises on her head where he hit her, ”Ferreira says.
