Farm attackers strangled a man with a scarf and cut his genitals with a sharp object.
Timothy Rademeyer, 51, and his partner, Dirkie Voges, 61, were found on their farm in the Welbekend area near Bapsfontein on Wednesday.
Voges managed to walk up to the farm road and call for help.
A local paramedic was one of the first people to rush to the farmhouse to help the couple.
Rademeyer was found with a scarf wrapped around his neck tightly. One of his ribs was also broken.
“He had ugly cuts to his head and arms. His private parts were also cut,” said the paramedic.
Rademeyer is known in the area for his woodworking, and many of his tools have been stolen.
The attackers stole the last money the low-income couple had.
Cell phones are the only other items missing.
