The channel says in a media statement Ramkissoon started feeling sick last week. He was advised to be tested for the virus on Friday. “His results came back on Monday. He will be in self-isolation for the prescribed 14 days and will not appear on TV during that time, ”the broadcaster said in the statement.
Ramkissoon is part of a team working in a so-called isolation studio in Johannesburg. The studio was set up eight weeks ago as part of the broadcaster’s disaster management plan. The idea was to reduce the risk of infection and manage the number of staff working in a single area in accordance with the Covid-19 regulations. “All staff members who worked in the same shift as Ramkissoon were sent home for self-isolation.”
eNCA also says the necessary detection of potentially exposed personnel is being done. “We have also put in place further measures to protect staff, including the use of screen screens within the studio’s operating rooms,” the statement said.
Ramkissoon says on Twitter he has very mild symptoms.
