Five armed men are still at large after they attacked and robbed a couple in their farmhouse in the Smithtown area, outside Jeffreys Bay in the Eastern Cape, on Wednesday night.
Sgt. Police spokesman Majola Nkohli said at least one of the five men had a firearm. They entered the house around 21:00 through a sliding door.
“A suspect with a firearm detained the elderly couple and the victims were tied up with cables,” Nkohli said.
The men stole several firearms and ammunition in a safe, as well as three television sets and four cell phones.
The victims, aged 71 and 66, respectively, freed themselves more than an hour later and called for help.
Police have appealed to anyone with information about the incident to investigate the investigating officer. Monwabisi Peter, call 042 200 6626.
