The principal of the Drakensberg Boys’ school was hospitalized this week with several stab wounds.
Greg Brooks and his wife, Carmen, were attacked in their home on the school’s campus in Winterton, KwaZulu-Natal.
Maroelamedia reported that the Brooks couple had been robbed in their home on Tuesday at about 8:30 pm while watching television.
Police spokesman Jay Naicker says four unknown suspects gained access to the couple’s home and demanded cash and looted the house.
Brooks in the process stabbed several times with a sharp object.
The Witness reports he was stabbed 14 times with a broken glass bottle.
Naicker said the suspects fled with two cell phones, a safe with two firearms and jewels in the couple’s car. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The school confirmed the incident in a brief statement on Friday. According to the statement, Brooks is doing better since then. He and his wife are currently receiving trauma counseling.
