A fight broke out in the Raymond Mhlaba building when EFF members were ousted by the legislature.
The EFF members, dressed in their distinctive red overalls, refused and security guards were called.
Objects were allegedly hurled at the guards by EFF supporters, including detergents that were apparently thrown at them.
One of the EFF members was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon with injuries to her legs. Tetyana says they do not yet know how serious the injuries are, but they are going to file an assault case.
“We wrote to the speaker last week to air our grievances on how EFF members were handled. We have not even received a notification of receipt so far. We lost all confidence in Helen Sauls-August. ”
Mabuyane strongly condemned Tuesday’s incident and associated violence in the legislature in a statement.
“The behavior of EFF members, who represent this party in the provincial legislature, and other EFF members who threw dangerous objects, stormed the room and attacked legislative staff, is a crime. It is violent anarchy and not good for our democracy. “
The EFF Deputy President, Floyd Shivambu showed his support for the “Ground Forces” on Twitter.
Well done to @official_ec_eff Ground Forces for defending the EFF elected representatives against the ANC hired thugs who prevent them from performing their constitutional obligations as MPLs. Next time the fight back must be tenfold. pic.twitter.com/gi6uzkfYN0— Floyd Shivambu (@FloydShivambu) March 3, 2020
