Today the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) published a statement online including the efforts they put in to stop “Foreign nationals” evading the travel ban enforced in South Africa due to Coronavirus.

South Africa is currently facing a travel ban of all foreign nationals entering the country and VISAS being revoked to further prevent the spread of the virus.

The EFF has made the allegations that the group were stopped previously at O.R Tambo International Airport and denied entry due to the new restrictions that were put into place.

It has been alleged that the group later traveled to Mozambique and made their way towards South Africa to attempt to re-gain entry.

“There are 4 buses carrying these foreign nationals, these buses entered through Lebombo border gate in Mpumalanga Early this morning. The EFF alerted the police in Mpumalanga, the South African Police Services (SAPS) responded with immediacy that the matter deserved. The SAPS and together with the EFF tracked down the buses”

The EFF have expressed their concerns towards the higher officials of the country and said that changes need to be made to protect the South African citizens.

“It seems that those who are working at our border posts are not performing their due diligence when it comes to those who enter our country”

“We call for the immediate detainment of those who work at the Lebombo Border Post in Mpumalanga and for being complicit in jeopardizing national security” said EFF
