The EFF says it filed three charges of assault with the Mmabatho police station after assaulting some of its MPs during this year’s provincial speech in North West.
NewsLiteSA previously reported the incident.
EFF members Papiki Babuile and Matshidiso Botswe were kicked out during the provincial speech on Friday when they interrupted Prime Minister Job Mokgoro’s speech.
According to information, five security guards stubbornly removed Botswe after he failed to heed Speaker Susan Dantjie’s request to adjourn. However, the EFF said in a statement that Dantjie refused to table points of order and therefore instructed the security service to remove some of its members.
Mokgoro continued his speech, after which Dantjie announced a while later that members of the EFF and the legislature’s security service were tackling each other outside.
“Members of the EFF have been assaulted and hospitalized,” says the EFF. According to information, one member’s nose bleed while the other sustained a swollen eye.
Dantjie, meanwhile, condemned this fist fight and told the legislature’s secretary to launch an investigation and compile a report within the next week.
The ANC has also thrown its penny into the bursary, condemning the hard-handed removal of the EFF members from the provincial cause.
