The whole of South Africa must be moved back to level five of the state of containment, says the EFF.
Hlengiwe Mkhaliphi, EFF MP, said this on Friday morning in her address during the debate on the modified budget of the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta).
The EFF and other opposition parties rejected the proposed budget for the department, but the ANC used its majority in parliament to accept it.
Mkhaliphi said that dr. Cogta Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, at the time of the Covid 19 pandemic, has to lead the way with the regulations.
“However, the minister has renounced her responsibility and allowed others to lead. So, there was no logical reason why children and teachers had to go back to school to die there. There is also no logical reason why the ban on alcohol should be lifted. Immediately after it was lifted, we all saw everything out of control. We are in the midst of a health pandemic that no one in our generation has seen before. “
The EFF says it looks like the government has thrown in the towel while people are still getting sick and dying daily.
“We plead with the minister not to allow white monopoly capital to provide the government with what to do. The health of our people is more important than their greed.”
According to Mkhaliphi, the more sensible thing for Dlamini-Zuma to do is to move the whole country back to level five.
