The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has released a statement today disagreeing with President Ramaphosa’s plan at relaxing the lockdown over time and citizens slowly returning to work and school.
Ministers are yet to release the plans on how the relaxation will be implemented, further information will be released over the coming weeks.
Without information on how Ministers will implement the relaxation, EFF has already said that they strongly caution the actions of “re-opening the economy” as they claim that the actions were not sought on a “sound scientific” and “epidemiological” basis.
The party is calling the reopening of the country “premature”, they have said that in the past 24 hours there have been 300 confirmed cases.
“We, therefore, do not understand the reasons for premature re-opening, which ignored the scientific and logical advice of experts”
Thought provoking by #ndlozi. It’s true, you need to enter varsity, write an assessment or u don’t qualify. You apply for a job, write an assessment. pic.twitter.com/B6TsoGp7NO

“Capitalist greed”
The Party went on to say that employees should not be in contact with each other at this time as “this will certainly expose them to higher risks of contracting the virus.
The EFF describes the actions being taken as “bending at the altar of capitalist greed”, claiming that the government is opening the country solely from an economical standpoint.
Returning to work and school has been described as endangering citizens and risking them being put at harm’s way of the COVID-19 virus.
