A Durban man who goes by the name Sifiso Nqubuko (24) has been found guilty on the 5th March 2020 of two cases of rape and robbery, he has been given two life sentences.
Nqubuko has been reported to be in the Ematsheni area carrying out his crimes and terrorizing the community back in 2017. As the man was unknown to the area the victims failed to identify him, until later on DNA analysis was used to link the suspect.
The first crime he was found guilty for occurred in September 2017, he took a 25-year-old female to Obonjaneni Reserve early hours. While at the reserve Nqubuko stole her belongings and raped the victim.
Two months later he carried out another attack on a 17-year-old female victim, accompanied by another male they assaulted her with an iron rod at Gudlucingo reserve. It has been reported that Nqubuko raped her multiple times before leaving.
DNA Analysis linked Nqubuko to both rape cases and he was arrested and remained in custody until prosecution. He was found guilty and will serve life imprisonment for each rape alongside 15 years imprisonment for the robberies.
