Limpopo police are searching for three suspects who shot dead a worker on a citrus farm outside Marble Hall on Saturday.
Brig. Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo told Maroela Media that Jeremias Solomone Macheque, 39, was sitting in a vehicle on the farm around 1pm to pay farm workers’ wages on behalf of his employer when three unknown suspects overtook him.
According to Mojapelo, the attackers aimed a firearm at Macheque and demanded cash. They shot him, grabbed the cash and pulled the man out of the vehicle. They then fled in that vehicle.
Emergency services declared Macheque dead at the scene.
The vehicle was later found abandoned about 1 km from the scene. There was no sign of the suspects.
Police are now appealing to people to provide any information regarding the incident at lt.col. Patrick Makgopa at 082 565 8446 or the nearest police station.
