A man who pretended to be looking for work attacked a Kirkwood woman in the Eastern Cape.
The 74-year-old woman was attacked at home around 11:40 p.m. The house is located just off the town at the R336.
According to police information, an unknown man approached the home and pretended to be looking for work in the area. According to a source, the man pulled out a paint scraper and attacked the woman with it, after which a struggle broke out. The robber then grabbed the woman’s cellphone and fled by jumping over the boundary wall.
The woman sustained minor injuries.
By Thursday morning, police were still looking for the suspect. A case of house robbery is being investigated.
