Two Police Sergeants are in trouble with the law that they uphold themselves after allegedly accepting bribes, in return releasing a suspected fraudster.
The victim of corruption had been arrested on the 15th June 2019 in allegation of printing passports from his home.
After being taken to Manenberg police station his belongings such as laptop and cellular phones were seized.
The two accused officers then allegedly proceeded to make a deal with the man and offered to release him for R5000.
The complainant let the officers know he only had R5000 at his home, they later escorted him home to receive the cash and later returned his belongings.
“The matter was reported and investigated by the Anti-Corruption Unit, and after the Athlone Magistrate’s court issued an arrest warrant, the members were arrested yesterday at Manenberg police station and made their court appearances today,” said Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana
