The Hawks SANEB Gauteng team have made a successful stop to a high-value target trafficking drugs through OR Tambo airport. The team received a tip-off about the man who was about to fly off to Hong Kong.
The total street value of the drugs has been estimated to be R300,000.
With the information of the man, the staff at the airport were able to stop him before boarding the plane. While searching the luggage no drugs were found but during the body search, a black plastic bag was found. The bag found strapped to the waist contained a large quantity of cocaine (1Kg).
The man remains in custody and has since appeared at Kempton Park Magistrates Court on charges of dealing in drugs. The case was postponed for further investigation and set to go ahead in May 2020
