Early Monday morning, robbery strikes struck a G4S cash van in Florida on the West Rand of Johannesburg.
Early reports at the scene indicate that the robbers stole the van with a Mercedes-Benz from the road. The vehicle stopped in a field where the robbers used explosives to blow the vehicle open and gain access to the cash. The Mercedes, as well as the money wagon, burned out.
The incident happened on Main Reef Road near the intersection with Houtkapper Street. The robbers allegedly fled in the direction of Johannesburg in a silver Audi and a white BMW X5.
It is still uncertain how much money the robbers got away with.
Police and emergency services were still on the scene by 9am.
