A man, 29, is due to appear again in the British Magistrate’s Court on May 13 after being caught with packages of toilet paper that he allegedly stole from a primary school.
According to Brig. Sabata Mokgwabone, North West police spokeswoman, Ontiretse Johannes Matlou was arrested in the Letlhabile informal settlement at about 06:00 on Tuesday shortly after leaving the school premises.
“After further investigation, it was determined that the suspect could also be linked to at least three separate burglaries at the primary school,” says Mokgwabone.
Matlou appeared briefly on Wednesday on a charge of theft in the Brits Magistrate’s Court after which the case was postponed to May 13. He will remain in custody.
“A total of 29 people have been arrested since in connection with robberies at various other schools in the North West. The suspects were arrested at various places, including Lethabong, Phokeng, Rustenburg, Vryburg, Mogwase, Mahikeng and Ikageng, ”says Mokgwabone.
