A Northern Cape police sergeant is under police surveillance in a hospital here after he allegedly shot his girlfriend in the early hours of Sunday after a fight.
The 37-year-old Lowryville prosecutor in Colesberg, after the fatal shooting incident in which his 28-year-old girl died, pointed the weapon at himself but survived.
The incident happened around 1am on Sunday. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, while the policeman was taken to a hospital for treatment.
“The motive is not yet known,” says Ramatseba.
Police are calling on their members to ask for help if they encounter challenges in their relationships.
