A man who worked as a security guard for Nafiz Modack, a suspected key figure in the Cape security world, was shot dead in Mitchell’s Plain on Sunday.
The incident happened around 14:30 in Beacon Valley.
Robin Shawn (Rashied) Hendricks, 45, was apparently waiting for a friend in his work vehicle in front of a house in Rambler Street when two men approached and fired at him. They fled and Hendricks died at the scene.
Police allegedly picked up nine 9mm cartridge cases at the scene.
According to information, Hendricks lived in Cadillac Street in Beacon Valley.
Police sources said Monday that two gangs (the 28s and the Americans) have traditionally been involved in that part of the area.
Modack confirmed on Monday that Hendricks worked for him. “He was a regular security guard and not a bodyguard,” he said.
Modack said he expects the police to do their job as in every other murder case.
No one has been arrested yet.
