Vredendal police said three suspected robbers ended up behind bars Tuesday morning after a shopping mall was robbed in the town.
Col. Andrè Traut says nine robbers robbed a cellphone store around 10:30 and threatened staff and customers with firearms.
“They drove away in a silver Toyota with cell phones and computer equipment.”
According to Traut, police in the town noticed the vehicle and stopped it.
“A 25-year-old suspect was arrested while four others ran away. After an extensive search, two more suspects, aged 27 and 29, respectively, were arrested. The other two are still being sought.
The robbers will soon appear in the Vredendal Magistrate’s Court in connection with the robbery.
