Limpopo police have seized smuggling cigarettes worth more than R2m since last Monday.
Brig. Provincial police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo said 22 suspects were arrested in various towns such as Lephalale, Modimolle, Musina, Mphephu and Tuinplaas.
The cigarettes that police seized are Remington Gold, Royal Express, Chelsea and Premium.
In Mphephu in the Vhembe district, three foreigners between the ages of 36 and 39 were arrested with about R700 000 worth of smuggling cigarettes.
In another incident, two men aged 26 and 30, respectively, were arrested on the R518 between Lephalale and Marken.
The boot of the car they were in was packed with cardboard boxes of smuggled cigarettes.
The police dog unit, crime intelligence and crime prevention were part of the operations.
