The police unit against family violence, child abuse and sexual offenses in Kimberley is looking for a man who allegedly raped a woman.
Capt. Police spokesman Sergio Kock says he is being sought after a 27-year-old woman was raped on May 21 at about 7pm in a field near a Greenpoint gas station.
Kock said the man accompanied the woman from Greenpoint to Southridge to fetch money.
The man forced the woman, whom he met for the first time, into an open area near the Puma gas station where he allegedly raped her.
“Police are looking for a man between 30 and 40 years old, of moderate build, dark in color, about 1.7m tall with marks in his face.
“He speaks Afrikaans and uses the names Thabo and Thabang.”
Kock says the man is believed to be from the Free State.
