Hours after the ban on alcohol sales was reinstated, a liquor store in Bothasig was looted.
A large quantity of liquor was stolen from the OK Liquor Store in the Village Center on Monday morning.
“Preliminary reports indicate that the store’s alarm went off around 04:35,” said brig. Novela Potelwa, Western Cape police spokesperson.
According to police, the store’s security gates were broken down and a window next to the door was broken to gain access to the store, after which a significant amount of liquor was stolen.
A case of burglary and theft is being investigated.
