A man working on a farm in Lephalale, Limpopo, has been arrested after he allegedly shot and killed a man who was hunting illegally on the farm.
Brig. Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo police spokesman, said it happened about 12:30 on Sunday.
“The 30-year-old deceased and two other men were allegedly caught by conservationists while hunting the farm illegally.
As they were escorted to a vehicle, the suspects fled in different directions and disappeared into the bushes, ”says Mojapelo.
The conservationists later heard shots and went to the scene where one of the suspects was apparently shot by a farm worker.
Police and emergency medical services were called and the suspected stock thief was pronounced dead, Mojapelo said.
Police seized the suspect’s firearm.
The 32-year-old farm worker appeared in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder.
