Three suspects were arrested in connection with a farm attack on Wednesday in the early hours of the morning in the Dendron district in Limpopo.

The farmer and his wife were assaulted in their farmhouse around 00:30. According to Marcelle Maritz, FF Plus leader in Limpopo, the farmer was severely assaulted and was admitted to hospital in a serious condition. His wife was shot and taken to hospital.

The suspects fled the scene in the farmer’s Nissan Navara pickup truck and firearms. Marius Müller, national operations coordinator of AfriForum, said that swift action by farm guards in the area in collaboration with the police led to the arrest of the suspects.

The suspects were stopped shortly after 06:00 in Polokwane and a shooting broke out. One of the suspects was wounded.

“We would like to thank the farm guards, every farmer and the police who responded quickly to locate and arrest the suspects.”

Inquiries have been directed to the police and feedback is awaited.
