The owner of a farm outside Worcester was attacked and robbed on Monday afternoon.
Police say two suspected robbers struck at Die Eilande farm around 12:00.
According to Capt. Police spokesman Tobela Dyasi was driving Ben Hugo into his home office when he heard footsteps and saw the two unknown men.
“One of the men had stones in his hand and the other a pipe. The man was hit over the head with the stone and his hands were tied with shoelaces. The alleged robbers then demanded the keys of the safe as well as money and jewelry. Hugo gave the keys after which the men locked him in the bathroom, ”says Dyasi.
The alleged robbers took two shotguns, one 9 mm pistol, one box of jewelry, an unknown amount of cash and liquor from the safe. The men then fled with Hugo’s bakkie.
According to Dyas, Hugo was able to release himself and called for help.
“The local farm guards followed the vehicle and the suspects fired four shots at them. They then left the vehicle on Robertson Road along Zweletemba and fled on foot to Zweletemba. “
The two shotguns, jewelry box and the liquor were recovered.
Frans Pietersen, of Overhex Farm Guards, said on Tuesday that Hugo had been examined by a doctor and that he was okay.
No one has been arrested in connection with the robbery.
