Three armed attackers raided a family’s smallholding in Zwartkop, Muldersdrift, last Friday. They tied up the father of the family and raped his wife and two daughters.
Art. Muldersdrift police spokesperson Boitumelo Sehloho said the three attackers entered the house that evening with firearms and ordered a 73-year-old man, the father of the family, to lie on the ground. They tied his hands and legs.
“The attackers demanded money from the man. “When he could not give them money, they started beating him,” said Sehloho. They searched the man and found and took his cellphone.
Sehloho says the attackers then took the man’s 46-year-old wife and two daughters, aged 15 and 11, to another room of the house and raped her.
According to Sehloho, the suspects are between 21 and 35 years old. They fled after the attack and are still at large.
“We appeal to the community of Muldersdrift to be on the lookout for the suspects. They are armed and extremely dangerous, ”said Sehloho.
Lt.col. Mankontsho Setlhare, the commander of the Muldersdrift police station, warns residents against house robberies, which are accompanied by violence. This has increased sharply in the area since the beginning of July. Numerous house robberies have been reported in Lindley, Zwartkop and Nooitgedacht in Muldersdrift in the past month.
“It is usually three to six suspects, with firearms, who rob the houses. “In all the incidents reported so far, the robbers entered the houses by force,” said Setlhare.
Setlhare also urges residents to be proactive and prepared at all times, as well as to sharpen security at their homes. He also asks that residents report any suspicious behavior to the police.
“Residents must make sure that the doors of their houses and garages are locked throughout. Do not store spare keys under doormats, potted plants or other very common locations. ”
Anyone with more information that could lead to the arrest of the attackers can call the Muldersdrift police on 011 4600/4641 or call the police’s crime number, 08600 10111.
