Allan Wolmarans, 54, long-time partner Marthie Rademeyer, 44, died in his arms on Sunday night after an armed robbery in the area between Pyramid and Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria.
Wolmarans was hit with a firearm.
The incident happened at about 21:00 behind the Wolmarans cafe on the R101 (old Warmbaths Road) on a small holding. However, it was not a farm attack as reported earlier.
The couple lives on a small holding about 300 m from the family business. A liquor store and gas station are operated on the same premises as the cafe.
Wolmarans said two armed men suddenly made their appearance in the back of the yard where the couple’s vehicle was parked. An unknown number of shots were fired. Wolmarans is uncertain how many shots Rademeyer hit.
“I just saw the shot that hit her mouth,” he says.
She died at the scene.
The robbers fled with R1 000 in cash and cell phones, among others.
Earlier, Marietie Louw-Carstens made an inquiry to the police, but by Monday at about 13:00 no feedback had been received.
