Western Cape police are investigating the circumstances under which the body of 85-year-old Ida Muller was found in her house in Ruyterwacht near Elsies River on Saturday.
Muller, who lived alone in her home in Cecil Rhodes Avenue, was believed to have been killed.
Neighbors have asked police on patrol to investigate because they last saw her on April 15.
Her body was found around 7:20 p.m.
Capt. Police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk says police officers saw at the house that her door was closed but not locked. They attended her home and found the body on a bed.
He said forensic detectives were on the scene to look for clues. No one has been arrested yet.
“The cause of her death is also unknown,” says Van Wyk.
People with information are asked to call the Stop Crime number on 08600 10111 or the investigating officer. G. Stephanus, on 021 928 4100.
