Police were called to Kagisanong Sports Ground, Freestate on the 7th April 2020 after it had been reported that allegedly 70 community members took revenge against alleged criminals.
It has been reported that three males aged between 20 and 25 were attacked and murdered at the Kagisanong Sports Ground, the victims were accused of burglaries around the Kagisanong Township area. The victims were grabbed from their homes and taken to the sports ground where they were allegedly met with 70 angry community members.
Police arrived at the scene around 05:00 to find that the victims had sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The community appears to have taken a stand and taken the law into their own hands to eradicate those carrying out burglaries in the area.
Five suspects have been arrested and believed to be linked to the attacks, they attended Ga-rankuwa Magistrates Court on the 9th April 2020 and await their formal bail application.
“Mandla Ngomane, 43, Philip Mahlangu, 47, Michael Nkoane, 57, Thomas Mandima, 66 and Mohau Jacob, 66, were remanded in custody until Friday, 17 April 2020 for formal bail application.” said Brig Sabata Mokgwabone
