No one has been arrested since Friday morning for the murder of a 41-year-old Kanana police sergeant outside Klerksdorp in North West.
Brig. Police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone says Sergeant. Martha Mamoitoyi Bouwer’s body was discovered in her home in Extension 14 at 19:50 on Wednesday evening.
Bouwer’s colleagues found her body when they went to look for her after she did not report for duty in the morning. She was found with multiple injuries in a pool of blood after police broke open the door to gain access.
According to reports, Bouwer was last seen by her boyfriend who later took their minor child to an aunt and allegedly told the aunt that Bouwer was not feeling well.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Builder’s Toyota Corolla is missing.
Lt.gen. Provincial Police Commissioner Sello Kwena mobilized a 72-hour activation plan to track down those responsible for the crime. He further said the death of law enforcement officers, whether on or off duty, undermines the authority of the state and it cannot be tolerated.
The Priority Crime Investigation Directorate (DPCI) is investigating the matter.
