Two members of the Tshwane metro police were arrested on Monday for alleged corruption during the state of containment.
“The two officers allegedly accepted bribes from a taxi operator who violated the regulations of the containment in Bronkhorstspruit,” metro police spokesman Isaac Mahamba said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The incident happened a few days ago. The two officers were arrested at work on Monday. They were detained in police cells and would appear in court today. The case has been postponed for a while as the investigation continues. ”
The latest incident follows the arrest of three other metro police officers, including Tshwane, who are accused of corruption.
“The metro police condemn this type of behavior and will not tolerate any corruption by its officers. If the officers are found guilty in the investigation, disciplinary action will be taken against them, ”he said.
