Ten men between the ages of 18 and 62 will appear in Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday in connection with possession of unlicensed firearms and cartridges, as well as marijuana.
Brig. Jay Naicker, the provincial police spokesman, said members of various police units, including the Special Task Force, Public Order Unit and the Tactical Response Unit, attacked the suspects at their homes in the Nyezane area on Sunday, following their information.
“An AK-47 rifle, three .303 shotguns, five pistols and 108 cartridges were seized. A large amount of marijuana was also found, ”says Naicker.
“The possibility is being investigated that there is a connection between the men arrested and a string of murders in Amangwe.”
