There are currently 137 positive Covid-19 cases in the Northern Cape. The number of cases has risen by more than 40 over the past week.
Most cases currently occur in the Frances Baard district, where 54 people have the viral disease among members.
In the Pixley Ka Seme district, where the cases suddenly broke out and increased rapidly over the past few weeks, 54 positive cases have also been recorded.
In the ZF Mgcawu district, 19 people’s test results are positive, while six people in the John Taolo Gaetsewe district suffer from the viral disease.
The Namaqua district still has the fewest infections with four cases recorded here.
An elderly woman (84) who was tested positive in the Karoo Highlands municipal area was admitted to a hospital in the Western Cape.
According to the Northern Cape Department of Health, six new cases have been reported in the Mesobomvu Municipality in the past nine days, including five women under 50 and one 51-year-old man.
There are five new positive cases in the Sol Plaatje municipal area. They are two women aged 22 and 39 and three men aged 37, 44 and 56.
A 55-year-old man from the David Kruiper municipal area’s test result is also positive.
Of the 137 positive cases recorded so far in the province, 52 have already recovered from the viral disease. One death has been reported.
