Jackson Mthembu briefed parliamentary journalists on Thursday on decisions taken at Wednesday’s cabinet meeting.
Mthembu was asked about travel restrictions as most Covid 19 cases entered the country through travel.
Mthembu says the cabinet is likely to decide on Sunday whether or not to introduce any travel restrictions.
“Covid-19 will be the main discussion point on Sunday. That meeting will look carefully at every possible issue about the virus, including travel restrictions. The same applies to whether sports and church gatherings should be banned, as well as the issue of schools being closed due to the virus and the influence of the virus on tourism and the economy, for example. Everything will be discussed in great detail. ”
According to Mthembu, the country will be informed immediately about the road ahead.
This comes after American President, Donald Trump imposed a 30-day ban on flights from Europe.
