The death toll in South Africa due to the coronavirus has risen to 11, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said in a statement on Sunday.
The confirmed cases in the country also rose to 1 655.
The latest death is an 82-year-old woman who was admitted to an emergency unit on March 29. She had underlying illnesses – high blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol.
The second death is an 86-year-old man who was hospitalized on March 26. He suffered from underlying disease COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
The total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 56 873.
