There are now 1,380 COVID-19 cases in South Africa, says Health Minister Mkhize. The figure thus rose by 27 from Tuesday.
A total of 44,202 People have been tested, most in private laboratories says Minister Mkhize.
If the virus hasn’t affected you yet, it might soon. We do not exaggerate when we say it is the silence before the storm. We must be vigilant, but not filled with fear and anxiety. We cannot say that there are only 27 new cases that have tested positive, there are still many cases that we do not know about. We will do everything in our power to make sure our health care workers are protected and we will work on ways to easily identify them the Minister said.
Mkhize says transparency is important because it’s not just professionals ‘struggles anymore, it’s communities’ struggles. We must fight the virus with facts, not fake news. We will be led by those who have done research on this. There is experience worldwide, there are failures and successes, and there are lessons to be learned in both.
In the next 7 days we must have every possible plan in place for this. The test units should go to epicenter centers. People with symptoms should be tested first, and then people with whom they have had contact. Then we move to the larger community.
