Covid-19 27 March update: Jackson Mthembu, ANC chief whip, says there are now 1170 cases of Covid-19 in South Africa.
Mthembu says Health Minister Zweli Mkhize told him there were two deaths from Covid-19.
“One person died due to the virus. There is no clarity yet on the second person.”

- Western Cape Primier Alan Winde confirmed on eNCA that the two deaths in the province due to Covid-19 are both women.
- ACDP leader Kenneth Meshoe and MP Steve Swart tested positive for Covid-19.
- ACDP said in a statement that the two members attended the prayer day in Bloemfontein, held on March 10 and 11.
