Coronavirus: Confirmed cases rise to 1462 in South Africa

82 More people have been tested positive for the coronavirus in South Africa, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said at the Universitas Hospital in Bloemfontein on Thursday night. He said there are now 1,462 people with the virus in the country.

Health Minister Zwele Mkhizi said at a news conference in Bloemfontein that they were now going to test ravaged people all over the country for the Covid 19 virus.

That is why they are launching 67 new mobile testing centers across the country.

New cases as per province:

  • KwaZulu-Natal:20
  • Western Cape:27
  • Gauteng:18
  • Free State:8
  • Eastern Cape:2
  • Limpopo:2
  • Mpumalanga:1

Health Minister Zwele Mkhizi said it was too soon to say whether the time limit would be lifted on April 16.

The global death toll from COVID-19 passed the 50,000 mark early Thursday night, according to Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
