The latest figures from the Department of Health show that South Africa now has 1187 cases of Covid-19.
Dr. Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said in a statement it did not indicate a reduction in the infection rate. “It is simply a reflection of the positive results we have received, verified and made known.”
- The SABC says an employee at its Auckland Park headquarters tested positive for Covid-19.
- All South African students that came from China, quarantined at The Ranch Resort in Polokwane, will now be able to return to their home provinces. This after their 14-day quarantine came to an end on Friday, says Blade Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education and Training.
- The army called on all reserve force members with immediate effect on Saturday evening. Spokeswoman Siphiwe Dlamini said on Saturday night that the reserve force would do exactly what the standing force members are already doing in the fight to curb the coronavirus, namely helping people obey the national order of restriction , as well as other performances in cities and the countryside.
- Parents with school-aged children will hear after April 16 this year when schools across the country will reopen, says Angie Motshekga, Minister of Basic Education.
