The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) expressed its condolences after one of its members in the Western Cape recently died of complications due to the new coronavirus.
Masonwabe Tshambu died last Tuesday due to Covid-19. Tshambu worked at the security department of the South African Airport Company (Acsa) in Cape Town at the time of his death.
Numsa regional secretary Vuyo Lufele confirmed in a statement this week that those who worked with Tshambu shifts and may have had contact with him were quarantined. In the meantime, they all tested negative for Covid-19.
Tshambu’s workplace was also disinfected shortly after he tested positive.
