The SBV security company says they joined with other security companies to establish an association focused on combating transit robberies.
SBV says in a statement that the success of association will depend on the support of individual businesses.
According to the statement, a milestone was reached in June 2018, when major South African banks partnered to fund a joint project to share resources and support each other when it comes to combating transit robberies.
“Over the past 18 months, this effort has contributed to a significant reduction in transit robberies, with some months where as few as 14 incidents have been recorded.”
Mark Barrett, CEO of SBV, says the company recognizes that the close working relationship across the country, coupled with the excellent support of all authorities, SBV employees and the public, has played a major role in controlling the situation.
