Clicks warehouse in Montague Gardens, Cape Town, has been temporarily closed after a security guard tested positive for Covid-19.
The warehouse is expected to reopen on Tuesday night after the site has been disinfected and new security guards arrived.
“The security guard worked in a specific area at the warehouse and had limited contact with other staff members, but as a precaution, we made a decision to temporarily close the warehouse while disinfecting,” said Gordon Traill, chief of Clicks support services, in a statement.
“No disruptions or delays are expected.”
All the necessary protocols have been implemented as set out in the company’s response plan with such incidents and in accordance with the guidelines of the National Institute of Communicable Diseases ) and the Department of Health.
A laboratory at Groote Schuur was also closed due to COVID-19 on Tuesday.
The Western Cape Department of Health confirmed on Monday they were informed that a staff member at the lab had tested positive for the virus. However, the department referred all inquiries to the national health department.
Provincial health department spokesman Mark van der Heever says testing will still take place at the laboratory.
“Hematology and chemical pathology tests will be moved to the Green Point Laboratory.”
